Welcome to the BikeShop!

Mission Statement

To foster a sustainable cycling culture in Willamette's community through education, enthusiasm, encouragement.

What is the BikeShop?

The Bike Shop consists of a training and volunteer program, a repair program, resource center, and the Borrow-a-Bike rental program. The training and volunteer program allows individuals to receive repair and maintenance training from a bicycle technician. These individuals can then volunteer time to staff the bike shop. The Bike Shop also provides volunteer opportunities in programming, resource development, check out program, and advertising.

The repair program allows individuals from the Willamette community to bring in their bicycle and learn from the staff for how to maintain their bikes. The services are free with the exception of inner tubes, which a $2 fee is charged. The resource center provides information on bike safety, Salem bicycle routes, Oregon bike trails, and other bicycle information. The resource center is also responsible for programming. The Borrow-a-Bike program rents bikes to Willamette community members for 48 hour periods. Each bike is rented with a helmet, safety lights, and lock, with some bikes coming equipped with racks and other accessories. The rental program is to divide into two parts: the first renting refurbished bikes to community members months or semesters for commuting purposes, the second renting specialized bikes for 72-hour periods.
