Biography

Curtis Bridgeman was named dean of Willamette University College of Law in December 2012. Prior to coming to Willamette, Bridgeman was Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at Florida State University College of Law. A member of the faculty at FSU since 2004, he received the University Graduate Teaching Award in 2009. Law students selected him “Professor of the Year” three times.

Bridgeman spent two years in the U.S. Army and earned a doctorate in philosophy and a J.D. from Vanderbilt University. He clerked for Judge Gilbert Merritt of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit in Nashville, Tenn.

Bridgeman has been a visiting professor at the University of Illinois. He also taught at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.

A leading scholar in the field of contracts and commercial law, Bridgeman has been an invited speaker at law schools around the globe. He has addressed the annual meeting of the American Bar Association’s business law section and is on the executive committee of the American Association of Law Schools’ contracts section.
