Nominate a Bearcat for a 2015 Alumni Award!
The WUAA wants to recognize the achievements of alumni from all over the globe, so if you know a particularly incredible WU alumnus, let us know about him/her by submitting an Alumni Award nomination! Alumni Unite for ALS Walk
More than 30 WU alumni and members of the Kappa Sigma fraternity gathered in Irvine, Calif. on Nov. 8 to participate in the Walk to Defeat ALS in support of their friend and brother Mark Hume '94, who was diagnosed with the disease in 2012. Traveling from all across the country and representing several generations, the Kappa Sigma crew helped Hume's As You Wish group raise $22,000 for the ALS Association of Orange County.
When asked what it was like to have 30 of his oldest, best friends make the trip to support him and the cause, Hume said: "It is thrilling, heartwarming, inspiring and just plain incredible. Seeing them all, reconnecting, laughing, talking intensely about important issues - it just leaves me with a permanent grin."

As the public relations and social media intern for GennComm near Los Angeles, Maddie Dugan '15 honed skills in managing PR campaigns, creating press releases, handling multiple social media platforms and relating to clients.
“As a student of communications, I want to explore all aspects of marketing and PR," Dugan says. "This internship gave me a better sense of how to effectively spread messages and form relationships with specific audiences.”
Maddie's experience validates what we know about internships. “It's important to have hands-on experience to really understand how the concepts you learn manifest themselves in real life,” she says.
