Issue 15 - February 2015

This past Tuesday, the WUAA launched a drive to "raise" volunteers during the 24 Hours of Giving challenge and have welcomed a number of new volunteers! The giving challenge (which raised more than $100,000 with more than 650 donors!) lasted just one day, but the volunteer drive continues. Click here to learn about the ways in which you can give back to WU as a volunteer.

It's impressive how strong we can be when we come together toward a common goal. Let's continue to strengthen our Bearcat bonds by reconnecting with WU and our old friends at events throughout the year!

AW: WU in the world
Alumni Weekend: Willamette in the World
Willamette may be in Salem, but Bearcats are all over the world. All alumni are invited to return to campus this fall for Alumni Weekend 2015 (Sept. 17-20) to reconnect with friends and celebrate how WU alumni engage with the global community. In addition to guest speakers, panels and presentations, join us for class reunions, mixers, fun excursions off campus and other internationally-themed activities. Save the date!

Intern Eric Spresser
Internship Story: Meet Eric Spresser '16
As the sustainability and marketing intern with the Eugene Emeralds minor league baseball club, Eric Spresser's main focus was to reduce waste and increase fan engagement at over 30 home games. “Interning gave me the opportunity to see just about every detail that goes into running a professional sports team; from selling tickets, watering the field and separating compostables, to interacting with fans to ensure everyone was having a good time," says Spresser.

After a summer with the Emeralds, Spresser walked away with new skills in sales, broadcasting, promotions and sustainability. He also left with some pretty great memories of being the “Rally Squatch” mascot, a job which had him running onto the field between innings to inspire the team and entertain the fans.

This is where you come in.

Willamette students need more internship opportunities. Plus, your place of business would benefit from the energy, intellectual curiosity and heart these students would bring. No internships at your workplace? Create one. It’s easy. We’ll show you how.
