Alumni Weekend: Willamette in the World
All alumni are invited to return to campus this fall for Alumni Weekend 2015 (Sept. 17-20), a campus-wide celebration that will highlight Willamette's global connections.
Following in the footsteps of last year's weekend, Willamette in the World will feature a fun and diverse slate of activities, including:
- Special reunions for rowing and women's basketball alumni, Greek alumni, and AGSM and College of Law alumni
- Engaging sessions led by Professor Roger Hull, Professor Scott Pike and Travel Program Director Jim Booth '64
- And a whole lot more! Check out the tentative 2015 schedule for what else is planned so far!
Alumni Share Life and Career 'Secrets' with Students
On March 7, more than 40 alumni and students came together for a casual meet-and-mingle event (titled "Secrets From the Other Side") following the spring WUAA Board of Directors meeting. Alumni Board spoke about their career path experiences and shared words of wisdom to students preparing for life after graduation.
Ranging from comedic anecdotes to words of caution, alumni offered insights into life as professionals, and students came away with new ideas about what they should focus on, as well as what they should let go of. Everyone enjoyed an afternoon of good stories, conversations, food and newfound connections (see the photo gallery here).
Internship Story: Meet Marin Grey '15
As the conservation and outreach intern with Oregon Wild, Marin Grey '15 coordinated events, created outreach materials, assisted with conservation work, and attended meetings and field tours with the US Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management. “My time at Oregon Wild greatly aided my knowledge about how nonprofits work, as well as the challenges with creating and influencing environmental policy,” Grey says.
Grey left the internship focused on her path ahead. “I learned that I want to be involved in an organization like Oregon Wild, which is full of amazingly passionate people. Being out in nature, involved in the community and creating legislative change is both appealing and fun for me. My internship was an unforgettable experience."
This is where you come in.
Willamette students need more internship opportunities. Plus, your place of business would benefit from the energy, intellectual curiosity and heart these students would bring. No internships at your workplace? Create one. It’s easy. We’ll show you how.
