Gallardo’s work embodies the critical interdisciplinary thinking so highly valued at Willamette. Since graduation, Gallardo has supported social justice causes, first by advocating for and defending immigrant rights and now by helping build resilient, local and just food systems.

As a Switzer Environmental Fellow at Yale, she is involved in sustainability efforts, including working with the New Haven Food Policy Council to advance food access and justice. She is also an entrepreneur working on a start-up company to raise and process crickets for human consumption in Portland. When she helped organize the Yale Food Systems Symposium, Gallardo invited current and recent Willamette students to present at the conference, providing them with a valuable opportunity to grow and prepare for graduate studies.
