  • Data analyst at Intel
  • Raised in a troubled home on Chicago’s South Side, graduated in the top 10% of his class, earned a bachelor’s degree in public administration
  • MBA gave him foundation in data modeling and storytelling

Megan Oshiro '15, JD'18

  • Majored in rhetoric and media studies as an undergrad
  • Black belt in karate
  • In law school, she was the notes and comments editor of Willamette Law Review, business editor of the Social Justice and Equity Law Journal, writer for Willamette Law Online, Business Lawyering Institute fellow, and leader of the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association
Public Health

Lisa Oakley '04

  • Member of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s elite disease detectives
  • Served on the front lines of public health in Seattle during the initial outbreak of the pandemic
  • Her team’s work led to the social-distancing requirements and face-covering recommendations widely adopted nationwide

  • 1859

    First Graduate

    In a time when women were frequently barred from college, Emily York is Willamette's first graduate.

  • 1976

    First female elected official

    A political powerhouse and trailblazer, Norma Paulus advanced women’s rights, education and environmental protection. In 1976, she became the first woman to be elected to statewide office in Oregon as secretary of state.

  • 1997

    Special Teams

    Liz Heaston was the first female to play and score in a college football game. Since 1997, Willamette has had two more female kickers.

  • 1935

    First Black graduate

    George Cannady was a Senior Scholar who was involved in football and track. He later became an attorney in Los Angeles.

  • 2017

    Resilience Baked In

    Carina Corner has grown through her experiences of cancer and navigating a sighted-world as a blind person. She's founded a Scandinavian-inspired, vegan bakery in Beaverton where she employs people with disabilities.
