Chemistry is a powerful way to understand the world around us. Our courses will challenge you to go beyond the basics and grow as a critical thinker and effective problem solver who understands the place of chemistry in human affairs.

Faculty members from Willamette’s chemistry department have earned the Oregon Professor of the Year award three times. These dedicated teacher-scholars have built more than a reputation for inspiring students — they’ve founded a rigorous, close-knit, student-centered learning community. Whether you’re sharing your ideas in class or chatting with a professor in our academic hearth, you’ll feel right at home.

Approved by the American Chemical Society, our program focuses on a strong foundational education in five principal areas: analytical, inorganic, organic, biochemistry and physical chemistry. By the time you earn your degree, you’ll be exceptionally prepared for graduate school and a rewarding career in business or industry.
