Sarah Kirk became faculty associate dean for faculty development in the College of Arts & Sciences in August 2015. She came to Willamette in 2002, and in 2014 she was appointed Professor of Chemistry. Among her administrative responsibilities in those years, she chaired the Department of Chemistry, the Writing Centered Committee and Pre-Health Committee. She has also served on both Faculty Council and Budget Advisory Committee. In 2014, she received the United Methodist Award for Exemplary Teaching and Service. She has also successfully secured external funding to support her active research program in medicinal chemistry.
Kirk’s responsibilities in the Dean’s office include leadings programs and coordinating resources focused on CAS faculty development and excellence across their academic careers. Kirk works collaboratively with CAS faculty and other institutional leaders to assess needs, develop programming, and implement strategies to enhance faculty teaching, scholarship, service, and leadership.
