In the midst of all of this change, who can I go to for help?
Whether you need to change your major, find a way to get involved, search for an internship, or identify classes that meet your goals, your academic advisor is your greatest university resource.
Preparing for an appointment:
Bring a list of questions or concerns
Brainstorm a list of classes that are interesting to you if you are going in for a registration appointment
Notify your advisor at least 24 hours in advance if you cannot attend a scheduled appointment—we want to be able to help as many students as possible.
Be ON TIME!
During the appointment:
Share your goals and educational priorities
Provide your advisor with accurate information about your interests and abilities
Ask questions if you don't understand something or need clarification
Remember, this is your education, take control of the conversation
After the appointment:
Follow up on recommendations
Email your advisor if any questions or concerns arise after the appointment is over
