The Other Side of Silence

Workshop and performance

Thursday, Nov. 5, 2020

•  5:00 pm: Performance Workshop Class
•  6:00 pm: Concert with Hub New Music

Be a part of this free, live event! Broadcast is available online for the workshop and performance, and Willamette students can take part in this limited capacity event at Hudson Hall, in Rogers music building.

Hub New Music joins SoundLAB's Artistic Director and Zeller Chair of Opera Katherine Skovira to present a workshop class and performance, hosted by the Music Department, New Music Series, and Dramatic Vocal Arts.

Called “contemporary chamber trailblazers” by the Boston Globe, Hub New Music — composed of flute, clarinet, violin, and cello — is forging new pathways in 21st-century repertoire. The ensemble’s ambitious commissioning projects and “appealing programs” (New Yorker) celebrate the rich diversity of today’s classical music landscape. In recent seasons, HNM’s performances have been described as “gobsmacking” (Cleveland Classical), “innovative” (WBUR), and “the cutting edge of new classical music” (Taos News).
