How do I incorporate sustainability, justice, and/or equity into the courses I teach?
I teach CAS courses with sustainability focus, such as HIST 315, Western Civilization and Sustainability and IDS 214, Food Justice. Other courses use sustainable themes in individual units or to frame overarching questions, e.g., my College Colloquium courses (Cascadia: Reimagining the Bioregion, and From Consumer to Citizen: Developing an Ethics of Place). I also include service learning components with sustainability elements into several of my courses. I used to teach in the summer program at Zena and hope to do so in the future.
How does my research advance sustainability, justice and/or equity?
I recently co-edited Teaching Sustainability: Perspectives from the Humanities and Social Sciences (SFA/Texas A&M Press, 2014); See my CV for journal articles and conference presentations.
What collaborations would I be particularly interested in?
I am broadly interested in collaborating with faculty in the Willamette University graduate schools collaborations, across disciplines in the College of Arts & Sciences, and with community partners.
