About your Admission Counselor
Book I Would Read Over, and Over Again:
In Time of the Butterflies by Julia Alvarez is a must read. It is about the life of three intelligent, strong, young women, the Mirabal sisters, growing up during Trujillo’s dictatorship in the Dominican Republic. I also wrote my thesis on this novel.
I would also recommend Born a Crime by Trevor Noah; a coming-of-age story during apartheid in South Africa.
Favorite College Memory:
Working at the Hatfield Library and being surrounded by such welcoming, supportive, creative, and funny staff. Also, doing homework with my friends in the Bistro while drinking my London fog with a cheese bagel or vegan chai cookie.

"Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do." - Pelé
You Wouldn't Know It, But:
I never tried Spam musubi or katsudon until my first year at Willamette.
