1. Can I take the same Fitness course more than once?

Yes, but not in the same full semester.

2. I would like to take two Fitness courses in the same semester. What should I do?

You will need to work with the Office of the Registrar. Certain rules apply [see Policies]. The same rules apply to student-athletes who participate in a sport in the same semester as taking an Fitness course.

3. I’m on the wait list. What should I do?

Attend the first class with an Add/Drop card. Be prepared to participate that day.

4. I’m not on the wait list, but want to take the class. What should I do?

Attend the first class with an Add/Drop card. Be prepared to participate that day.

5. I need to Drop an Activity Course. What should I do?

Bring your completed Add/Drop Card to your Instructor for his/her signature. The Associate Dean for Student Success can also sign in the Instructor’s stead.

6. How can I get in touch with a Fitness course instructor?

It is easiest via email, or by showing up before or after the Instructor's class.

Most of our Fitness Course Instructors are on campus only for the time window that they are instructing. Most do not have an office nor direct phone number. You can also leave a message at the Associate Dean for Student Success' office in Matthews 103.

7. What if I am sick?

Send an email to your Instructor. However, since Fitness courses are participation-based, any absence will count towards the maximum allowed. [See Policies.]

8. What if my instructor is sick?

If a class is canceled for the day, your instructor or the Associate Dean for Student Success will probably send you an email. There may also be a sign posted at the Sparks entrance or on the classroom door.

9. Can my friend come with me?

No. Only persons who are registered for the course may participate. The exception being FITS 059X Skiing/Snowboarding.

10. I am WU faculty/staff/grad student. Can I take an Fitness course?

Not usually. Priority is given to undergraduate students taking the course for credit. Generally, activity courses are full following the online registration period, and there are often waiting lists of students who desire spots if one opens up. However, should space be available at the end of the undergraduate enrollment period, it may be possible for a graduate student or a faculty or staff member to participate in the course. Contact the Associate Dean for Student Success for details.

11. What about after-hours classes?

Student Engagement & Leadership offers fitness classes such as hip-hop dance, yoga, Pilates, etc for a small fee. The classes, fees, and schedule are determined after the start of each semester.

These are not for credit. Please contact Student Engagement & Leadership/Campus Recreation for more information.

12. Can you tell me about the Sparks Center?
