Biography

A resident of Toronto, Canada, Rod Ceballos returns to Willamette University, where he served as the artistic chair and directed productions from 1992-1996. Are You Now Or Have You Ever Been (1992), The Maids (1993), The Rover (1993), Women of Troy (1993), Blood Wedding (1994) The Cherry Orchard (1995), Othello (1995), and Once In A Lifetime (1996).

Rod Ceballos was a recent associate artistic director for the Empty Space Theatre in Seattle, where he directed Accidental Death of an Anarchist, What the Butler Saw, The Empress of Eden and the American professional premiere of Charles Tidler’s Blind Dancers. He has directed plays at Seattle University, Cornish College of the Arts, the Idaho Shakespeare Festival, the Cincinnati Shakespeare Festival, the Chicago Shakespeare Festival, and the Virginia Shakespeare Festival.

Recent work for Mr. Ceballos has included appearances at Persephone Theatre and Theatre North West, assistant director on Neil Munro's production of The Seagull for the Shaw Festival, and directing All My Sons for Willamette University Theatre in Oregon. Mr. Ceballos' credits include: Alonso in The Tempest for Tacoma Actors Guild; Capulet in Romeo & Juliet for the Seattle Shakespeare Company; Malvolio in Twelfth Night in Richard Cottrell's recent production for the University of California, Davis; Shylock in the Merchant of Venice for the Idaho Shakespeare Festival; and a season with the Utah Shakespeare Festival. He is a past artistic director for the Idaho Shakespeare Festival, artistic associate director for the Empty Space Theatre in Seattle, and resident director for the Virginia Shakespeare Festival.

He currently teaches at Equity Showcase Theatre and holds an MFA in Acting from Ohio University and a BA from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

As well as his four years at Willamette University, Rod Ceballos’ teaching experience spans through colleges such as Boise State and the University of California-Davis.
