The Willamette MS in Data Science is an in-person, evening program designed for working professionals and college graduates from a wide range of backgrounds who are interested in building their computer programming and data analysis skills. Students can choose between two locations: Willamette’s Downtown Portland Center or our main campus in Salem.
PROGRAM DESIGN
- The Willamette MS in Data Science was designed to be completed in as little as one year (Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters).
- You have the option to take a reduced class load and finish in two years.
- Classes are weeknights between 6-10 p.m. Students can work full or part time, or pursue an internship while enrolled in the program.
- Starting in Fall 2023, core MSDS courses will be offered in both Portland and Salem. Applicants can choose their preferred location on the application. There will be a selection of elective classes on both campuses.
- The program addresses issues such as the ethics of working with data while teaching students how to formulate good questions, design a process for answering them, and effectively communicate their findings to a variety of stakeholders.
- Students benefit from connections with industry professionals, and complete a capstone project with a local industry partner as a key program requirement.

- Willamette's MS in Data Science is a graduate degree, not a boot camp or certificate program. It is a comprehensive, high quality program that provides the skills and experience necessary for career success and advancement.
