Laura Godly

Visiting Instructor of Legal Research & Writing

Professor Godly is a visiting member of the Willamette University College of Law faculty.  She teaches Legal Research and Writing and Legal Analysis for the Bar.

Before joining Willamette, Professor Godly clerked for the New York State Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Fourth Department.  At the Fourth Department, she rotated through individual chambers and assisted with the preparation of judicial reports and decisions on a wide variety of legal matters.  She also provided pro-bono representation to tenants facing eviction through the Volunteer Legal Services Project of Monroe County, Inc.

Professor Godly received her J.D. from the University at Buffalo School of Law, where she served as an Articles Editor on the Buffalo Law Review, a writing fellow, a research assistant, and participated in multiple moot courts and the Representation in Mediation competition.  During her 2L summer, she interned at the U.S. Department of Justice, Environment and Natural Resources Division, Environmental Crimes Section.

Prior to law school, Professor Godly earned her Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering and a minor in Global Gender Studies, her black belt in Kung Fu, and her Girl Scout Gold Award.  She is excited to explore a new coast and to bring her interdisciplinary background into the classroom.
