Yvonne A. Tamayo joined the Willamette University College of Law faculty in 1998.  Tamayo teaches Torts, Advanced Torts, Mass Torts, Professional Responsibility, Deposition Skills, Civil Procedure and Practical Writing for Lawyers.  

Among her publications are “Rhymes With Rich: Power, Law, and the Bitch," St. Thomas Law Review (Winter 2009); “Catch Me if You Can: Serving United States Process on an Elusive Defendant Abroad," Harvard Journal of Law and Technology (Fall 2003); and “Patently Absurd: Expanded State Immunity In the Global Market,” Virginia Journal of Law and Technology, (Spring 2001). She is a member of the Oregon State Bar Legal Ethics Committee and was previously a member of the ABA Standing Committee on Professionalism, AALS Section on Professional Responsibility Executive Committee and the LSAC Subcommittee on Misconduct and Irregularities. Additionally, she serves as University Counsel to Willamette University. 

Tamayo taught Advanced Legal Writing at St. Thomas University School of Law in Miami, Florida, from 1991 to 1993. She practiced law with Fitzgerald, Portela & Portuondo in Miami and Palm Beach, Florida from 1988 to 1993. She taught Legal Writing, Oral Advocacy, and Church and State at Suffolk University Law School in Boston, Massachusetts, from 1993 to 1996, and taught Civil Procedure and Federal Courts at the University of Orlando School of Law from 1996 to 1998.

In April 2006, Professor Tamayo received the Jerry E. Hudson Award for Excellence in Teaching. Named in honor of former Willamette University President Jerry E. Hudson, the award celebrates distinguished teaching and leadership by a member of the faculty.
