WUPILP is a student-run nonprofit organization with a mission to educate future lawyers about the opportunities, rewards, and need for involvement in public interest law. Public interest law covers a wide spectrum of traditional legal practice and covers non-profit and governmental work.
WUPILP strives to provide law students with opportunities to work in the public interest field through our Summer Fellowship Program. Each summer WUPILP funds fellowships through various fundraising events. Past fellows have worked with county public defender's office, legal aid, the ACLU, Catholic Charities, Mercy Corps, and numerous other organizations.
A tradition for more than 30 years, WUPILP's biggest event of the year is the Bid for Justice Auction. For the 2023 summer, WUPILP, in partnership with the John Paul Stevens Foundation, supported nine students working in local, public service law internships.
We are eager to start planning for the 31st Bid for Justice Auction, to be held in Spring 2024. The event will include a silent auction, live auction, inspirational speakers, and more! Stay tuned for more information and email cmhenegan@willamette.edu with any questions.
