Biography
Romana Autrey joined the faculty of Willamette University's Atkinson Graduate School of Management in 2016. Before coming to Willamette, Romana served on the faculty of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for six years and at Harvard Business School for five years. Prior to entering academia, Romana was a senior manager in KPMG's Intellectual Property Services group, where she performed a wide variety of forensic accounting services, including investigations of underreporting of royalties, channel diversion ("gray markets"), fraudulent warranty claims, procurement fraud, among others.
At Willamette, Romana has taught accounting courses in all three of Atkinson's programs: undergraduate business, full-time Early Career/ Career Change MBA, and the evening MBA for Professionals. Romana's research interests are inherently interdisciplinary and can be summed up, broadly, as using incentives and other management control systems to mitigate dysfunctional behaviors and to foster desirable behaviors. Her research has been published in outlets from multiple disciplines, including The Accounting Review, Marketing Science, and Production and Operations Management. Romana serves on the editorial boards of Decision Sciences and Advances in Management Accounting, as well as serving as an external member on the internal audit committee for Oregon's Judicial Department.
