Biography
Jane Machin, MFA, Ph.D., earned her doctorate degree in Marketing from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and an MFA in Design from Radford University. Jane has over 15 years of experience teaching advertising, branding, creativity, and design thinking. Her research, which examines the intersection of decision making, stigma and consumer wellbeing, has been presented at top conferences in the field, and published in top journals, such as the Journal of Public Policy and Marketing, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Consumer Marketing, Journal of Consumer Affairs, Appetite, and Marketing Education Review. Jane is the recipient of numerous awards for both her research and teaching, including the Thomas C. Kinnear Best Paper Award, the Master Teacher Award from the Marketing Management Association, the Cengage Pride/Ferrell Innovations in Teaching Competition, The Davis College of Business and Economics Outstanding Faculty Award and the Donald N. Dedmon Distinguished Teaching Professor Award. Prior to her academic career, Jane worked for six years in international brand management for Unilever, PLC. She continues to consult for Fortune 500 companies and start-ups, advising them on brand positioning and leading design thinking workshops.
