The information on this page is for Willamette MBA students who are enrolled in the MBA, BA/MBA or Accelerated program during falls semester 2021 and spring semester 2022. If you have questions, please contact Alex Subert.

Tuition

Tuition for the 2021-22 Academic Year: Tuition for the full-time MBA program is $22,450 per semester ($44,900 for the academic year) for students enrolled full-time. Full-time enrollment is defined as being enrolled in 9 to 19 credits of AGSM course work in a semester. Tuition for students carrying more than 19 credits in a semester will be $22,450 plus the per-credit rate of $1,871 for each credit over the 19-credit limit.

Students enrolled part-time (1 to 8 credits) will be charged on a per credit rate at $1,871/credit hour. This makes the cost for each 3 credit GSM course equal to approximately $5,613 for students enrolled part-time.

Education Loans

Loans are also the most common source of financial assistance for MBA students around the world. Educational loans provide students the opportunity to cover their educational, living and personal expenses while completing their MBA. Loans make it possible for students to invest in a future of expanded career opportunities and increased earning power. The following loan programs are available to eligible graduate students for 2021-2022.

Direct Unsubsidized Loan for U.S. Students: The Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan program provides up to $20,500 of loan assistance over a two-semester academic year (fall/spring) for eligible graduate students who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Eligibility for the Direct Unsubsidized Loan program is determined by submission of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. The FAFSA is available on line. Contact Shanan Woods in the Willamette University Financial Aid Office for more information.

Direct Graduate PLUS Loan for U.S. Students: The Federal Direct Graduate PLUS Loan allows eligible US citizens and permanent residents to borrow up to the full cost of attendance (estimated budget of educational, living and personal expenses minus other financial assistance). Application requires submission of the FAFSA. In addition, students must have met their annual maximum of $20,500 in Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loans before applying for a Graduate/Professional PLUS loan. Contact Shanan Woods in the Willamette University Financial Aid Office for more information.

Private Educational Loans for U.S. Students: U.S. students may be eligible to borrow through private credit-based educational loan programs. Private loans generally require a cosigner. By applying with a creditworthy cosigner, you may improve your likelihood for loan approval and may receive a lower interest rate. Students should research lenders and the features of the loan programs before selecting their lender. Contact Shanan Woods at the Willamette University Financial Aid Office for more information.

Private Educational Loans for International Students: International students may be eligible to borrow funds through private credit-based educational loan programs. Private loans generally require a cosigner who is a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. By applying with a creditworthy cosigner, you may improve your likelihood for loan approval and may receive a lower interest rate. For more information, be sure to read GMAC’s mba.com article titled Your Guide to US Graduate Student Loans for International Students that describes what international students need to know about loans and loan programs. Scholarships

Atkinson School Scholarship awards and named scholarship awards are competitive and merit based. Most scholarships are awarded upon admission to the MBA program and are renewable for the second year of study for MBA students who meet all renewal requirements.

MBA/JD students who receive scholarship assistance from the MBA program receive the scholarship only for the first academic year in which they are enrolled full-time in the MBA program. Atkinson scholarships awarded to MBA/JD students are not renewable.

Contact AGSM Senior Associate Dean, Alex Subert, with any questions you have about scholarships or scholarship awards.

Renewal of Scholarships

Atkinson School scholarships and named scholarships awarded to MBA students (Early Career, Career Change, BA/MBA) for the first year of MBA study are automatically reviewed for renewal after spring semester grades are received.

Scholarships are generally automatically renewable at the same dollar amount for the second year of full-time MBA study if the student completes all of the eligibility requirements listed below.

  • maintains good standing within the academic policies and expectations of conduct of the Atkinson School and Willamette University.

  • maintains full-time enrollment in the Early Career and Career Change MBA program with a minimum of 9 Atkinson School credits for each semester.

Students who do not meet all of the requirements for renewal of their scholarship may appeal the renewal of their scholarship to Alex Subert, Senior Associate Dean and Director of Admission, who will confer with the Dean in making all appeal decisions.

Students will be notified of their scholarship renewal status (including the appeal process) via an email from Alex Subert following the first-year of study and after all grades have been submitted for spring semester. This generally occurs in June.

As with all scholarships, fifty percent of the renewed scholarship award for the academic year is dispersed for fall semester and 50% is dispersed for spring semester. Scholarship awards are also not available for summer semester.

MBA/JD students who receive scholarship assistance from the MBA program receive the scholarship only for the first academic year in which they are enrolled full-time in the MBA program. Atkinson scholarships awarded to MBA/JD students are not renewable.

Students who have questions about eligibility for scholarship renewal should talk with Alex Subert, Senior Associate Dean and Director of Admission.

[Note: These policies are also stated in the Atkinson School MBA Student Handbook provided via web site link to all enrolled students each fall semester.]

Cancellation of Scholarships

Scholarship recipients may lose their scholarship as a consequence of being found responsible for violating the Atkinson School Honor Code. See the conduct section of the Atkinson School MBA Student Handbook for information about consequences for violating the Honor Code and the Honor Code process the process.

Scholarship recipients who have been found responsible for an academic or professional behavior violation of the honor code may lose all scholarship assistance awarded by the Atkinson School. Information about the Honor Code and expectations of academic and professional behavior is available in the Atkinson School MBA Student Handbook.

Monthly Payment Plan

Payment plans are available. For additional details about payment plans and how to sign up, please contact the Student Accounts Office.

Federal Work Study – U.S. Students

Federal work-study is a form of need-based financial aid for U.S. students and requires submission of a FAFSA. Although government regulations allow students to work up to 20 hours per week, the Atkinson School recommends students limit their work to 10 hours or less per week. Students interested in federal work-study should file a Work Study Request form with the Willamette University Office of Financial Aid at (503) 370-6273.

Willamette University Student Employment – International and U.S. Students

While some employment opportunities are limited to students who qualify for Federal Work Study, many campus employers hire students using Willamette University student employment funds. All Willamette students are eligible to earn these student employment funds. Availability is dependent upon individual department budgets. The Office of Financial Aid can assist students in identifying departments that have Willamette University student employment funds.

Current job openings for both Federal and Willamette student employment are posted on Willamette’s Handshake job board.
