On Friday, April 12, 10 WU undergrads, many of whom are AES minors, attended the Ethnic Studies Undergrad Research Symposium at the University of Oregon. Both Ash Alunan (Biology) and Jonny Louangrath (Politics and American Ethnic Studies) presented papers and were honored with top panelist awards! Their respective essay titles are: "“Reckoning With Our Colonial ‘Past’ in the Sciences” and “Refined Social Attitudes Towards Southeast Asian Refugees in Southern California, 1970s-80s." The American Ethnic Studies program sponsored this trip, and Delia Olmos-García (Willamette Academy) accompanied student attendees: Karina Hernandez-Ziranda, Gonzalo Garcia Reyes, Adrianna Nicolay, Gia Dacayanan, Ash Alunan, Jonny Louangrath, Michelle Hicks, Fran Florindez, Gabriela Santoyo Gutierrez, and Diana Marquez Guerrero.
