After 13 years of service as University Archivist, Mary McRobinson has decided to take on an exciting new challenge as the Manager of the Reference Unit at the Oregon State Archives. In her time at Willamette, Mary built the University Archive program from its inception, initiated a records management program, and partnered within the University and community to build extraordinary special collections centered around political and artists’ papers. Far beyond that legacy, she has represented the University and her profession on regional and national levels and has contributed to teaching and learning at Willamette both inside and outside the classroom including building a model internship program for our students. She has also mentored countless archivists who have moved on to make further contributions to the profession. While doing all of this she has still found time to be active in the community, be a mother and spouse, and somehow find time to get her MBA at Atkinson (finishing this summer).
As Mary transitions from a career spent entirely in the academy to public service we wish her well. While we will miss her terribly, we have no doubt she will have great success in her new job and are happy she will only be moving “down the street.”
Please come join us in the Hatfield Room between 12:30 PM and 2:30 PM on Monday August 19th to celebrate Mary’s past, present, and future and to wish her well.
