Are you ready to welcome the class of 2023 and other new students to Willamette?
Opening Days begins Wednesday, Aug. 21. The student-run program helps newcomers acclimate to Willamette’s academics, accommodations and community. Students begin moving into the residence halls at 8 a.m. Wednesday. A full schedule of events follows. Some highlights include the kickoff program for students, a picnic dinner for students and families, convocation and the matriculation ceremony.
The university encourages staff to use alternative forms of transport — such as biking, walking, carpooling or public transport — to travel to work Aug. 21–22.
Thank you for giving our students and their families a warm welcome.
Please volunteer
More than 300 volunteers (faculty, staff and students) are needed Aug. 21–22 to ensure the success of this fantastic campuswide event.
Shifts are usually 2–3 hours, and time slots are between 7:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. on both days. Volunteers can choose preferred times and duties in the sign-up form.
Volunteers are asked to attend one of two training sessions. Those who cannot attend a session can meet one-on-one with the volunteer coordinator.
Training sessions:
- Wednesday, Aug. 14 from 11–11:45 a.m. in Smullin B-17
- Thursday, Aug. 15 from 11–11:45 a.m. in Smullin B-17
