After a comprehensive search for a firm to assist with the design and development of a new website, Willamette University has selected Murmur Creative of Portland.
Murmur will work with the university, especially the teams in Marcom and WITS, on brand positioning, development and messaging. The company will then weave these elements into a website experience that will be unique in the higher education space.
“Murmur is a great partner to have on this and future projects. Not only were they technically sound, but they are a good fit with Willamette,” said Tim Cobb, Vice President for Marketing and Communications. “They really understand us and are a lot like us. Work will begin immediately, with a scheduled launch date in late summer.”
Cobb teamed up with Vice President and Chief Information Officer Jackie Barretta to co-chair the university’s selection committee, which included a cross section of staff and faculty members from the university’s colleges and offices. To guide the selection process, Barretta said the committee agreed on 11 web design values that it was seeking in a partner. After a number of firms were interviewed remotely, three were selected to present on campus.
“Murmur was the best choice,” Barretta said. “They will complement the skills that we have in IT and be a good partner.”
Cobb said the next step in the web redesign will be a discovery process that includes stakeholders across the university.
