The majority of Irwin's professional career in archives has been spent in Arizona. Her position includes time spent as vice president of Library and Archives for the Arizona Historical Society, interim director for the Arizona Historical Foundation, and as an adjunct professor at the University of Arizona.
Irwin, whose ties to the Pacific Northwest include holding a BBA and an MBA from the University of Portland, also holds an MA in Information Resources and Library Science from the University of Arizona.
Among many accomplishments as an archivist, Irwin was part of the team who processed former Arizona Sen. Barry Goldwater’s papers. She gained perspective and knowledge she will be able to apply to the Willamette University Archives’ extensive political papers collections in addition to our other collections.
Please join me in welcoming Susan to Willamette.
