Join our graduation celebrations

Commencement Planning Committee

Since our traditional commencement ceremonies have been postponed, faculty and staff have been busy trying to make the best out of a unique situation by planning special celebrations and events to make sure our graduates feel properly recognized and honored for their accomplishments.

Here are some highlights of Willamette's plans for an alternative and virtual commencement celebration:

  • Special care packages with graduates' cap and gown have been prepared and mailed to our students in time for this weekend's celebrations.
  • The Distinguished Senior Awards, Lavender Graduation Celebration, Black and Brown Joy: A Graduation Celebration, Phi Beta Kappa Induction Ceremony, and Baccalaureate events moved online.
  • A commencement video, customized for each school and featuring a special virtual music performance, will be posted on our website on Sunday, May 17. Please see our commencement page for information about when each video will be posted.
  • During Sunday's celebrations (8:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m. PDT), graduates and community members are invited to share social media posts that will be added to the @willamette_u Instagram/Facebook story.
  • In addition, graduates will receive special messages from Willamette and the alumni community during the weekend that will hopefully encourage them and let them know that the entire Willamette community is surrounding them with good thoughts and virtual high-fives.
  • The Collegian is producing a special commencement issue that will be mailed to graduates after commencement.

For questions, please refer to Willamette's commencement website.
