Volunteers needed for new student move-in

Contact: Emily Morris

Staff and faculty, we need your help greeting our new Bearcats on Aug. 18 and 19.

Opening Days (CAS new student orientation) will be here soon! This year we need many (approx 200) volunteers to help ensure a welcoming and safe move in for our new students.

Please sign up for a volunteer shift (approx two hours long) on Tuesday, Aug. 18 or Wednesday, Aug. 19.

Most of these duties (all are listed below) require standing but chairs can be provided upon request:

  • Res Hall Entrance Assistant (guide people to doors, show them where ramps are, etc.)
  • New Student Greeter (guide students to check-in area; standing at a specific location)
  • Drop Off Area Greeter (greet students and guests at drop off; guide them to check in, label items, monitor car time at drop off; requires some lifting)
  • Sparks Lot Attendant (stationed at Sparks Lot; guide guests to check in area)
  • Matthews Lot Attendant (greet guests, make sure they have arrived at the right time, guide to drop off area)
  • Golf Cart Driver (drive golf cart to help with Student Activities needs) - must be safe driver certified through Campus Safety

NOTE: Safe and social distancing practices WILL be in place for all volunteers.

Volunteers are asked to attend one of two move in volunteer virtual training sessions: Thursday Aug. 13 OR Friday Aug. 14 at 10 a.m. (via Zoom; link will be sent to volunteers after they sign up.)

If you are willing and able to donate a few hours of your time, please respond via the Google Survey linked below by Aug. 13.
