Language in Motion is an on-campus Community Service-Learning (CSL) program that works to provide opportunities for Willamette students can interact with K-12 students in the Salem-Keizer school district. We work with international students, CAS students who have returned from studying abroad, and/or students with language and cultural backgrounds to provide cultural presentations to classes and organizations in the school district.
Every fall semester, Language in Motion runs the Howard Street Charter School Program where student-volunteers come together to teach Japanese language and culture to younger students. This year, our program will be run virtually and students will have the chance to discover and create innovative ways to provide younger students with learning opportunities and engage in intercultural exchange and dialogue. Students with varying degrees of knowledge about Japanese language and culture are encouraged to apply!
The time commitment is one afternoon a week (TBA) plus planning and training.
