Willamette faces off against over 150 teams from across the nation.

The national championship for debate was cancelled last spring as COVID spread. Fortunately, the debate community was able to adapt and postpone until the fall.

This past weekend, the debate team competed at the United States Universities Debating Championship (USUDC) with over 150 teams from every state in the U.S.

Debaters Inéz Nieves '24, Grace DeLee '21, Bethany Abbate '21 and Alexander Knorr '22 argued about zoning ordinances, bail ins for financial institutions, marriage, Eastern European democracy, and progressive prosecutors.
