We want to make students aware of a few resources and reminders to assist in accessing primary, urgent and specialty care in and around Salem.
Take a picture of your health insurance card. For ease and in case of emergency, this will provide convenient access to insurance information.
Call Bishop Wellness Center for help with referrals off campus. Bishop staff can advise you on insurance coverage, local resources, how to find medical specialists and things you may need for your appointment. You do not need Willamette student health insurance to access Bishop’s services.
Review information about accessing off campus care on the Bishop Center website. This information will also be provided to students via a card when transported to the hospital from campus.
For residential students’ after hours medical assistance, call Campus Safety. In nonemergency situations they can provide a ride to Salem Hospital Urgent Care or the emergency room and will connect you with the on-call area coordinator who can assist in preparing you for your medical visit and can provide you with information about getting back to campus and follow up support. If it is an emergency, they can call an ambulance and ensure they find your room location quickly.
For additional follow-up or after care assistance, call Bishop to talk with the case manager by calling the front desk at (503) 370-6471.
