11/13 - Virtual Beatbox performance by Sung Beats - 8:00 PST

Join Willamette Events board for an evening with performer SungBeats on Zoom.

The event is a mixture of musical performance (beatbox and vocal looping), instructional tutorial (learning the basics of beatbox) and even making music with participants' voices. This interactive event will be lighthearted and fun for all.

SungBeats is an award-winning beatboxer and live-loop artist from NYC who has been perfecting his craft for over a decade.

11/13 - Leaf of Voices Part V: Honoring Youth Poets - 7:00pm - 8:30pm PST

This year, The Telling Room published A New Land, an anthology of student poetry. Join Linda Aldrich, Portland’s Poet Laureate, and five young poets featured in this anthology as they read and discuss their work.

11/14 - Star Trees Lighting - 7:00pm PST

Join us online for one of Willamette's most beloved traditions, the annual Star Trees lighting. Yes, it's happening a little earlier than usual, but couldn't we all use a little festive cheer right about now? The virtual event will take place YouTube livestream. The link to view the livestream will be shared with the community as we get closer to the event. Bon Appetit is preparing a special meal for students that evening, and we will stream the event into Goudy if you want to watch it while you eat.

Note: To help us maintain the guidelines and restrictions we have in place to manage COVID-19, please do not come to the Star Trees to watch the event in person.

11/14 - Semi-Annual Clothing Swap - 2:00pm - 4:00pm PST

The SOAR center and Students For Sustainability will be holding their Semi-Annual Clothing Swap event in the Alumni Lounge on UC 3rd! With respect to adhering to Willamette University's quiet period, we will be limiting the number of people gathered in the same area to 8 people in the room at max. Please sign-up for a designated time slot to browse through donated clothing, for free, by members of the WU community! There will be a maximum of 5 people per slot, and it is on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Are you in the dark on how to photograph landscapes after the sun goes down? Join Sigma tech rep, Aaron Norberg, for this introductory course in night sky photography to learn the basics of how to find the best locations, how to schedule an outing, what gear and equipment to take with you and how to get the right exposure. You’ll leave ready to jump in to the universe of night sky photography and come away with dramatic results.

11/15 - “The Lavender Line” Switchboard: 45 Years of Listening - 10:00am - 11:30am PST

Brighton LGBTQ+ History Club is delighted to host a special event celebrating 45 years of the “Lavender Line” Switchboard by digging deep into their archives. They hold anonymised call logs, handwritten notes by volunteers documenting calls and notes from their befriending service, dating back to the late 1970s. Spend a morning with Natasha Walker and Clare Plumley, exploring this rich and moving history. Listen to stories, ask questions, and come on a journey of political and personal accounts.

The National Museum of the American Indian’s Native Cinema Showcase is an annual celebration of the best in Native film. This year, for the 20th-anniversary showcase, the museum presents the full program online, streaming new films, fan favorite classics, and conversations with filmmakers. The showcase provides a unique forum for engagement with Native filmmakers and stories from Indigenous communities throughout the Western Hemisphere and Arctic.
