Emergency medical responder class hosted by WEMS

Contact: Kelli O'Brien

Become an EMR for a fraction of the cost and join a tight-knit group of responders on campus.

By completing the emergency medical responder (EMR) course offered by WEMS you will be eligible to apply for an Oregon state EMR license through the Oregon Health Authority and subsequently join WEMS. The class will be held Monday and Thursday from 4–7 p.m. beginning on 3/1/21 and ending on 4/5/21. EMR state testing will occur on or around 4/9/21. The class will be offered in-person. I'm attaching a google survey which will act as an online contract for the course. It will go over the expectations, materials, cost, and how to cut the already discounted cost of the course in half. If you have any questions at all about the class or WEMS feel free to reach out.

As a side note, WEMS is opening its drill sessions to the entire Willamette community this semester. During our drills, we review topics like wilderness medicine, trauma/triaging, altered-states, pregnancy/childbirth, and medical law to name a few. This semester drill will be held on Tuesday from 7–9 p.m. both in-person or over zoom. Drill attendance is in no way required for the EMR course but would be a great way to practice skills, solidify knowledge, and build community with fellow responders. If you want to receive the zoom link for drill please send an email and we will share it with you.

I look forward to seeing you in class or drill this semester.
