Adequate outdoor lighting is an important component of campus safety. Campus Safety occasionally organizes nighttime tours to review lighting and look for areas of concern.
Members of the Residence Hall Association (RHA) recently contacted Campus Safety about a number of areas that seemed dark and in need of improvement. Together, we completed a nighttime tour of campus April 19.
Three categories of concern were identified.
- Lights that were burned out and need bulbs replaced
- Lighting fixtures that existed but were not casting much light
- Areas where additional lighting fixtures need to be installed
Facilities already replaced all of the burned-out bulbs. Their staff is reviewing a plan to address the other areas of concern.
