Support our first generation students.

At this year's MLK Celebration Book Group, "College Belonging: How First Year and First-Generation Students Navigate Campus Life," join Kelvin Clark, Senior Director of Student Success, in a campuswide discussion of how we can support first generation college students as they learn to navigate the academic, social and institutional dynamics of our campuses.

The book group will be a series of discussions:

On Zoom — Sept. 28, Oct. 26, Nov. 30 from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

In person — Jan. 22, 2022 in Montag Den on the Salem campus from noon-3 p.m.

If you cannot attend some or all of the virtual sessions, you are welcome to participate with the in-person session in January.

In the final session we will be gathering as a community and talk about "next steps" as we collaborate on ideas of how to support our students. Questions to guide our discussion will be emailed prior to each session.

Discussions will revolve around the strategies offered in the book and how to create a plan to implement ideas in your organizations and departments.

Books are free. Signup via the link below. Instructions to access the book and Zoom meeting links will be sent upon registration.
