In recognition of the gift from Sean B. O'Hollaren '83, Willamette University established the Political Internship Fund. 

Sean O'Hollaren is the Senior Vice President, Government and Public Affairs at NIKE, Inc. Prior to joining Nike, Sean served as Senior Vice President, Global Government Relations, for Honeywell International and was the Director of Washington Affairs for Tax and Environment at the Union Pacific Corporation. He served in the White House as Deputy Assistant to the President for Legislative Affairs and as Special Assistant to the President in the White House Office of Legislative Affairs. 

Sean was unanimously confirmed by the U.S. Senate to the post of Assistant Secretary of Transportation, spent some time at the Department of Homeland Security, as well as serving U.S. Senator Mark O. Hatfield from 1984 to 1991. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and Psychology from Willamette where he has served as a member of the Board of Trustees since 2014. 

Funding is available for all students enrolled full-time in the College of Arts & Sciences who are working as low- or non-paid interns in political, public services, public affairs, or other organizations deemed appropriate to enhance the students' practical experience, work exposure, and/or career opportunities.
