In recognition of current and future gifts from Melissa L. Smith '79 and Jeffrey S. VanHarte, Willamette University offers grant funding to assist students in accessing internships in the field of psychology.

Funding may be awarded to any full-time student enrolled in the College of Arts & Sciences who is working as a low- or non-paid intern in the field of psychology. This includes, but is not limited to, the fields of behavioral psychology, forensic psychology, hospice care, early childhood education, victim assistance programs, cross-cultural psychology, public health and health education, speech and language pathology, rehabilitation services, clinical and experimental research opportunities, counseling, and alternative behavioral medicine. These awards are designed to enhance the recipient's practical experience, work exposure, and career opportunities.
