An Oregonian, Alexander Vasquez-Ibarra is from Grants Pass, Ore. As a first-generation college student, Alexander received his Bachelor of Arts in Politics, Policy, Law, & Ethics (PPLE) with minors in Sociology and American Ethnic Studies from Willamette University ‘21.

During his early years at Willamette, Alexander thrived in on-campus leadership positions within the Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA), Gender Resource and Advocacy Center (GRAC), and Mark O. Hatfield Library. Alexander served as a student instructor for Willamette’s Model United Nations program for nearly 3 years and worked as Peer Career Intern for Empowerment & Inclusion within Career Development.

Focused on an interdisciplinary education rooted in advocacy and intersectional justice, Alexander looked beyond the “Willamette Bubble” to take on opportunities to work on a local campaign, volunteer with local and statewide advocacy organizations, intern at the Oregon State Legislature and U. S. Congress in Washington D.C. before working as a Legislative Assistant at the Oregon State Capitol.

Alexander has returned to Career Development because he is passionate about supporting students in their career discovery through mentorship and leadership development.
Alexander lives in Gresham, OR with his husband Victor, 2 poodles, and 1 cat. When not tending to his pets, family, and friends, Alexander loves paddleboarding around the Pacific Northwest with his fiance.
