Biography
Originally from Seattle, WA, Claire has called Oregon home for the past fourteen years. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from Willamette University in 2012 and is thrilled to return to the Willamette community in the role of FamilyCare Pre-Health Director.
In her work as part of Willamette’s Career Development team, Claire draws from 10 years of experience bridging health care and higher education. She spent several years serving clients as a labor doula, working alongside many excellent OB-GYNs, nurse-midwives, and labor and delivery nurses to ensure that her clients were centered and well supported as they navigated the experiences of pregnancy, birth, and the early postpartum period. While practicing as a doula, she also served students preparing for careers as midwives, lactation consultants, labor doulas, and postpartum doulas in the roles of Registrar and Assistant to the President at Birthingway College of Midwifery.
Claire is a strong believer in liberal arts education, especially as a foundation for a career in health. She is passionate about supporting the growth of future practitioners, professionals, and leaders in this field and feels honored to serve as a resource and guide for Willamette students preparing to enter health professions.
Outside work, Claire enjoys getting outside for a hike or picnic whenever time and weather allow. She also sings with the Portland Symphonic Choir.
