Frank Miller grew up in Iowa in a somewhat isolated environment. As result, his youth was spent reading, playing Dungeons and Dragons, and obsessively watching weird movies. It wasn't until his first year at the University of Wisconsin that he first picked up a camera.
Following college he spent four years in Japan, first teaching ESL and then working in a small factory. Returning to the US, he pursued a Master’s degree at UT-Austin in photojournalism. He worked at three newspapers before going into university photography in Buffalo, NY. He came to Oregon in 2001 and began working at Willamette the following year. He is very active in his personal photography work, and has exhibited work in group and solo shows.
