The Gender Resource and Advocacy Center is excited to launch this new addition to the Jump Start program! We are happy to invite incoming LGBTQ+ students and allies to join our affinity-based cohort program to help you get a “jump-start” to your college experience and set you up for success before you even attend orientation! In a fun learning environment, participants will focus on self-growth through identifying your strengths and challenges and learning strategies to overcome obstacles. You will also connect meaningfully with others throughout the four-day pre-orientation. This program is designed to build a strong sense of community and help you begin to connect with peers and build relationships across differences. We will focus on skill-building for wellbeing. In an effort to support you on your journey to leadership for positive social change, you’ll identify cultural messages you’ve internalized and find opportunities to foster equity in your community. There will be field trips to Portland and the coast and opportunities to meet current LGBTQ+ students, staff, faculty, and alumni, and learn from organizations in the community.
