Biography
J.R. Tarabocchia is the AVP for Institutional Marketing at Willamette University, responsible for overseeing all marketing initiatives aimed at enrolling new students. Before his current role, he served as the Assistant Dean of Recruitment and Student Activities at the Willamette University College of Law where he successfully led the admissions office to a remarkable 50% increase in enrollment over a period of four years.
Before joining Willamette University in July 2015, Tarabocchia had a rich background in higher education, having spent nearly a decade at Portland State University in a variety of roles. During this time, he organized commencement ceremonies, led student ambassadors, established a welcome center, wrote the student employment handbook, recruited undergraduate students, worked in the Dean of Students office, secured corporate sponsorships, and co-founded a community chorus.
In his free time, Tarabocchia enjoys a range of hobbies including rowing, swimming, cooking (and eating), playing the piano and the accordion (separately), and spending time with his family.
