Overview

Willamette is not accepting applications to UHI FOR the 2023-2024 academic year.

Spend fall or spring semester at the University of Highlands and Islands (UHI). This multi-campus university has thirteen colleges, research centers, and over 70 local learning centers.  The only university based in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland, UHI prides itself on being a little different.  WU students can study on the larger campus in Inverness or at Orkney College in the Orkney Islands. Minimum GPA required by host program: Based on WU approval.

Academics

The UHI Inverness campus hosts courses in history, psychology, math, art, environmental science, sport studies, media studies and Scottish studies. Orkney campus hosts courses in archeology with hands-on dig experience, fine arts, and Nordic studies.

UHI utilizes both in-class and video-conferencing to deliver courses across the university system. We encourage students to select in-class courses whenever possible, but know that some video-conference classes may be necessary to meet your academic needs. OIE staff will assist you to determine the delivery method of specific classes.

Housing

In Inverness a new student housing facility opened fall 2016.  The student rooms includes Wi-Fi, heating, electricity, central laundry facilities and secure bicycle storage. Strong student support systems provide for academic and personal support for students adapting to university life.

No student housing is available on Orkney, but university staff will assist students with locating local accommodation.  Food will be purchased and prepared by students.  Host family arrangements are possible.  Find out more about accommodation at UHI here

Dates

The program is available as a fall semester, spring semester, or as a full year option.  Semesters are early September to December or late January to June.
