About Service, Leadership & Sustainability

SLS is a great way to make connections as you transition into this exciting time in your life! This program provides students with the opportunity to engage in direct service in the Salem community while forming friendships with other incoming students. Caring, fun-loving leaders answer your questions about the first year at Willamette and work to make SLS an outstanding experience. A typical day of SLS consists of improving the environment, feeding hungry families and reaching out to youth in need. Students will also have the opportunity to develop their leadership skills, socialize through group events, and relax in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. The program fee includes all transportation, meals, accommodations, fun surprises and a T-shirt. Join us as we build community with one another and in Salem while living out Willamette University’s motto, Not unto ourselves alone are we born.
