Mission StatementAlpha Phi is a sisterhood of outstanding women supporting one another in lifelong achievement.
The objectives of our Fraternity are the promotion of growth in character; unity of feeling, sisterly affection, and social communion among our members.
In all that we do, we try to obey the principles of justice and right. We have banded ourselves together to improve our minds and hearts, and we seek to aid each other through a constant watch care always given in love.
We believe ourselves to be sincere searchers for truth.
We seek the highest ideal of womanhood, and we try to gain this ideal by cultivating not only the power and passion for seeking intellectual development but, also, the spirit of love and charity.
And we who are thus united are under a solemn pledge to lend a helping hand to one another.
‐ Constitution of Alpha Phi International Fraternity, Incorporated, Article II
The sisterhood of Alpha Phi stretches from coast to coast through 168 collegiate campuses and more than 200,000 members. Sisters share a commitment to excellence and a strong desire to help one another and their communities. Alpha Phis are leaders, scholars, contributors and lifetime members of a sisterhood that values these traits.
Alpha Phi assists college women in making informed choices to reach their highest potential. Alpha Phi enhances and promotes each member's development and learning by focusing on sisterhood, service, scholarship, leadership, loyalty and character development.
The innovative leadership and organizational practices of Alpha Phi's Founders in 1872 set the spirit for the Alpha Phi of today...a sisterhood that values the past but looks forward to the progress offered by the future.

Alpha Phi International History
Alpha Phi was founded at Syracuse University by ten of the first nineteen women admitted to the newly opened university. The Original Ten, the founders of Alpha Phi, were women of courageous vision and pioneering hearts. Pursuing their studies in a male-dominated university, these women yearned for a circle of friends who could sympathize with each other’s troubles and support each other’s ambitions. On September 18, 1872, these ten women initiated themselves into Alpha Phi.
Philanthropy – The Alpha Phi Foundation
Created in 1956, the Alpha Phi Foundation is one of the oldest women’s fraternal foundations and empowers women to be generous givers. Its primary philanthropic mission is supporting women’s heart health and developing women as leaders. Alpha Phi chapters across North America raise funds for the Foundation, which awards grants for programs that improve women’s heart health, advance leadership development, encourage academic excellence, support sisters in need and educate about the value of philanthropy. In 2013-2014, collegiate chapters raised nearly $2 million for the Foundation through popular campus events, such as a formal Red Dress Gala or an exhilarating Move Your Phi’t 5K! Alpha Phis hold our philanthropy very close to our hearts.
