Learning about different cultures, traditions, languages, and their history; academically, my biggest interest is in science, specifically chemistry, and anything related to the field of medicine. Listening to music, playing the piano, reading books, watching YouTube, going to the beach, spending time with family and friends

Favorite Class at WU

American Medicine: Competence, Conceit, and Culture

Favorite Event at WU

Willamette So White has been my favorite event at Willamette so far. It's an event organized by students of color for students of color and it is something I look forward to every year because it has helped me feel empowered and build community with other BIPOC on campus.

Favorite Restaurant in Salem

La Hacienda Real - I really love Mexican food and this place has the best food with such a large menu and so many options which is perfect for someone like me because I love trying a lot of different things. The people there are very friendly, the prices are really affordable for the amount of food you get, and I've taken at least half of my family there when they come to visit and they've all loved it so far, definitely recommend it!

Fun Facts

I am the oldest of 4 children and there is a 17 year age gap between my youngest sibling and I.

Interests and Hobbies

I love attempting to DIY anything and everything, whether it is successful or not (my most recent DIY was reverse tie dyeing). If my stomach was a bottomless pit, I'd be constantly eating and trying different foods. I also enjoy cooking, but not as much as eating food that's cooked for me. I've recently been trying to learn more about investing in stocks, but unfortunately have not made too much progress in doing that.

Favorite Class at WU

Despite my love for chemistry and the natural sciences, I have continuously found that taking classes outside my area of interest have been beneficial. Not only does it stimulate my mind in ways never before, but it also pushes me to explore things that I never would've imagined would interest me before.

Favorite Event at WU

My favorite and most memorable event at Willamette is the Hawai`i Club’s Lū'au that is held every spring semester. Getting to connect with people from Hawaii and being surrounded by the aloha spirit is an indescribable feeling. Although the event makes me homesick at times, it reminds me that I have an 'ohana (family) here at Willamette, too.

Favorite Restaurant in Salem

Happy Bibimbap House has the best authentic Korean food you can get in Salem (my personal favorite is their soon doo boo). Not only is the food affordable, but they come in pretty big portions AND every order comes with free appetizers/sides. It's walking distance from campus so I would highly recommend going there if you get the chance! All of the workers are wonderful; they close on on Mondays to cook and serve meals to the homeless in our community.

Fun Facts

From first grade and all throughout middle school, I attended school in Japan during my summer breaks. Although I dreaded it at the time, in retrospect, I couldn't be more grateful for the experience and the friends I made over the years.

Quote or Words O' Wisdom

Being in a new environment, trying new things, and venturing outside of your comfort zone, it can all be scary. In times like these, people in Hawaii say, "chance 'em" and face your fears. It is definitely easier said than done, but this is YOUR college experience which means that it is in YOUR hands to make it the experience that you want. Take advantage of the freedom and time that you have to explore your individuality, to navigate your passions, and to find your drive.

Favorite Class at WU

My favorite class would have to be any of the Spanish classes I have taken with professor Blanco. She is a great professor and really pushes me to try my best.

Favorite Event at WU

My favorite event is the Dia de los muertos event that Alianza (Latinx Cultural Club) puts on. It's a nice reminder of home and it's nice to celebrate a tradition when I'm away from home.

Favorite Restaurant in Salem

My favorite restaurant is probably Bo&Vine downtown. I just really love a good burger and there aren’t many places that make a better one. I also like how they have options for people with dietary restrictions.

Fun Facts

My left thumb is double jointed.

Quote or Words O' Wisdom

Interests and Hobbies

I love to sing, especially with my siblings. I have a music scholarship here at WU and I am in Chamber Choir, but I also love to just listen and sing to music that I grew up with, like The Beatles, Whitney Houston, and much more (I am open to recommendations). I also love to read realistic fiction books, the cheesier the better, but also powerful books, like Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi. I really enjoy watching movies and TV shows, some of my favorites include, Princess and the Frog, The Princess Bride, Star Wars, New Girl, and Once Upon A Time.

Favorite Class at WU

Latin American Literature/Modernismo-Present with Professor Blanco-Arnejo.

Favorite Event at WU

My favorite event has been making haikus at Hawai'i Club with some friends. I met a lot of people and I had never made one before, so it was overall a great experience.

Favorite Restaurant in Salem

My favorite restaurant is Bo and Vine because it is a well-lit, friendly, and casual place to eat. I usually get either a burger, or just sweet potato fries because there are big enough portions.

Fun Facts

I have a twin sister and we were born a minute apart (we are totally different but in a good way).

Día de los Muertos, because I really enjoy celebrating my own culture here on campus and remembering loved ones who have passed. It’s also a great event that the Alianza club puts on!

Favorite Restaurant in Salem

The Ram, they have pretty good vegan/vegetarian burgers and it’s a great environment to eat out at.

I’ve watched the movie The Dark Knight about eight times.

I really like spending time outdoors, camping and swimming. I've also recently gotten into embroidery and different craft projects.

Favorite Class at WU

I really enjoyed Prof. Drew's Sociology Racism and White Supremacy. This was my first SOC class and it felt like everything clicked for me. The material we learned was heartaching to get through at times but also very valuable. Drew is so incredibly sweet too, I feel like this class and experience was very interactive with different projects and activities besides the readings. It was just eye opening for me and something I had not imagined in academia before.

Favorite Event at WU

Midnight breakfast! The year I went it was Peanuts-themed and I love Snoopy and feel very nostalgic towards that theme. It was also just a nice memory being able to go with my friends to the dining hall late at night during finals.

Favorite Restaurant in Salem

Sassy Onion, it's really the only 'Salem' restaurant I've tried since I've been here but everyone talks about it and it was pretty good, classic brunch spot.

Fun Facts

If you watch buzzfeed, I've met Adam from 'Worth it'
