About Steppin’ Out

The Steppin’ Out aims to provide incoming first-year students with an exciting introduction to Willamette University, Oregon, and its many beautiful natural areas. The program is designed to allow for the creation of friendships and the building of a strong supportive community to kick off your educational experience! This program utilizes outdoor adventure in order to build campus community, facilitated through the catalyst of the outdoors. No prior outdoor experience is necessary!

Due to COVID-19, we will continue to update this website as we gain more information on how to proceed with the Steppin' Out Program for August of 2021.

“Getting involved with other first years really helped, it formed a sense of community among us. The leaders especially were all amazing; they kept people excited and energized.”

Melissa Duncan

“Definitely focused on themes of community, so I know that Willamette values community and has a great one to lean on. I also found that they were very focused on finding your own way and that makes me have confidence in my path forward.”
