Jackie Barretta joined Willamette University as the Chief Information Officer in February, 2016. Prior to Willamette, she served as the Interim CIO and Interim Technical Services Division Manager at Portland Community College (positions she’s held since 2014) and she previously held the same position at College of Marin. Before that she was the chief information officer at Con-way Enterprises for 15 years.
Barretta has ample experience establishing IT governance committees to guide investments and improvements in Instructional Technology, Administrative Systems, Technology Infrastructure, and Information Security, has led projects to provide major enhancements to IT systems and significantly improved procedures and tools for managing instructional technology, administrative workstations, and the enterprise data center.
Jackie holds an MA in Organizational Communication from Marylhurst University and a BS in Computer Science from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She is a certified Project Management Professional and a regular speaker and workshop leader for the Project Management Institute. She has served on advisory boards of some of the largest IT service providers, including Hewlett Packard and Teradata.
Barretta is a prolific author on boosting innovation in technology organizations. She has had several articles published in InformationWeek and CIO magazine, and a book, "Primal Teams: Harnessing the Power of Emotions to Fuel Extraordinary Performance," published by the American Management Association.
