UPCOMING PERFORMANCES

Juliana Ha, Senior Recital

Thursday, April 3, 2025 • 7:00 p.m.

Hudson Concert Hall
Mary Stuart Rogers Music Center
This senior lecture voice recital will showcase classical songs that encompass love's different dimensions, all from composers who were most likely autistic or otherwise demonstrated an autistic or neurodivergent nature through their music.
All are welcome to this free event.

Aiden Schneider, Junior Recital

Friday, April 4, 2025 • 7:00 p.m.

Rogers Rehearsal Hall
Mary Stuart Rogers Music Center
This recital is focused on bringing magic into the audience. The two pieces being played are juxtaposed against each other, presenting the struggle first and then the joy that it is to be alive at this time. Through dancelike music, we experience the magic that it is to be human.
All are welcome to this free event.

L’Amante Segreto:

Music by Barbara Strozzi

Dr. Hannah Penn, Faculty Recital

Sunday, April 6, 2025 • 3:00 p.m.

Hudson Concert Hall
Mary Stuart Rogers Music Center

Step into the enchanting world of Barbara Strozzi, one of the most prolific and expressive composers of the 17th century. Known for her daring harmonies, passionate poetry, and virtuosic melodies, Strozzi’s music speaks to the complexities of the human heart. Experience the drama, tenderness, and brilliance of these Baroque masterpieces in a performance that promises to transport you to another time.

This intimate concert features the voices of two of our faculty singers, Dr. Penn and Prof. Cowell, self-accompanying on a harpsichord built by Salem historical instrument builder, Owen Daly.

All are welcome to this free event.

Sonic Arts Ensemble and Contemporary Ensemble

Wednesday, April 9, 2025 • 7:30 p.m.

Rogers Rehearsal Hall
Mary Stuart Rogers Music Center
Sonic Arts Ensemble is an improvisational group fusing live electronics and instrumental performance into an expansive and unconventional experience. The group embraces a variety of electroacoustic practices: analog and digital synthesis, effects pedals, and live processing of instrumental sound, to create an energized and immersive aural tapestry, all produced live and in the moment. Contemporary Ensemble draws on many types of scores (traditional, graphic, text, etc) and participants are encouraged to create their own, which we develop and perform. We use deep listening and improvisation to find common ground.
All are welcome to this free event.
